Gachiakuta – Season 1 Episode 7 Recap & Review

Recap: “A Score to Settle”

Episode 7 wastes no time throwing us into chaos. Jabber takes things to the next level by literally poisoning himself with his own claws, dulling his pain receptors and masking his hostility. That clever (and creepy) move instantly cancels out Gris’ talisman, which was Rudo’s only real line of defense. Suddenly, Rudo is backed into a corner, completely overwhelmed by Jabber’s brutal swings.

Just when it seems like game over, Zanka steps in with a desperate but brilliant idea. He strikes Rudo hard enough to trigger the talisman, allowing Rudo to manipulate Zanka’s movements. What follows is an insanely creative fight sequence—Rudo guiding Zanka like a human projectile while Zanka pummels Jabber over and over. The plan works, and Jabber is finally knocked down.

But victory doesn’t last long. The talisman burns out, turning to ash, and Zanka collapses from exhaustion. That hit Rudo especially hard since the talisman belonged to Gris, and he’s left feeling guilty about destroying it.

Things get worse when Jabber gets back up—completely unfazed, still smiling, and more dangerous than ever. With Rudo and Zanka too poisoned and battered to fight, Jabber makes off with Rudo. It feels like curtains until reinforcements arrive. Enjin, Riyou, and other Cleaners rush in, forcing Jabber to retreat.

The episode doesn’t stop there. We’re introduced to a new Raider, Cthoni, who casually teleports Jabber away through a manhole. Her presence adds a whole new level of intrigue about who’s really pulling the strings behind the Raiders.

The final moments calm things down. Gris, injured but alive, reassures Rudo that losing the talisman was worth it. That little bit of warmth closes the episode, reminding us there’s still humanity in the middle of all this carnage.

Review

Episode 7 might just be the strongest entry of Gachiakuta so far. Here’s why:

1. Creative fight choreography.
The way Rudo and Zanka teamed up was both funny and genius. Using Rudo’s power to literally control Zanka’s body added a fresh layer of strategy, making the battle more than just fists flying.

2. Tension with real consequences.
The talisman breaking wasn’t just a cool effect—it actually means Rudo can’t rely on it again. I love that the show doesn’t let him hold onto “cheat codes.” Every win comes at a cost, which raises the stakes moving forward.

3. Jabber’s terrifying energy.
Jabber continues to steal the show. He’s unpredictable, masochistic, and somehow still grinning through every punch. The voice acting here is top-tier, making him feel genuinely unhinged.

4. A new threat enters.
Cthoni’s brief appearance sets the stage for bigger battles. If Jabber is this wild, what’s waiting behind him is even scarier.

5. Emotional grounding.
Amid all the action, the small moment between Gris and Rudo hit perfectly. It showed that Gachiakuta isn’t just about flashy fights—it’s about characters who care, and the guilt or relief they carry after every battle.

Final Thoughts

Episode 7 delivered a mix of adrenaline, strategy, and heart. It had one of the most inventive battles so far, a shocking twist with the talisman, and the introduction of a mysterious new villain. By the end, I was both satisfied and itching for Episode 8.

My Rating: 9/10 – a thrilling, well-balanced episode that proves Gachiakuta is only getting stronger as the season goes on.
